Andy Robertson has endured a tough season with Liverpool, with the defender showing signs that his time at the top might be coming to an end.
The 30-year-old Scotland international has lost a bit of that cutting edge that in recent years has made Robertson one of the best fullbacks on the planet and a real asset for Liverpool, with talk emerging that a replacement could be on its way.
Liverpool are believed to have three left-back options in mind with the summer transfer window likely to see a full overhaul of the position, with Robertson’s future at Anfield potentially in doubt depending on what happens at the end of this season.
However, the Liverpool defender has gone about his business in a professional manner of late, and Steve McManaman has been impressed with what he’s seen from the fullback after last night’s performance against PSV Eindhoven.

Speaking on TNT Sports coverage of last night’s game, the pundit noted how Robertson has responded well since being criticised by the likes of Jamie Carragher, with the defender wearing the armband for Liverpool away in Holland.
With Manchester United legend Denis Irwin also impressed with Robertson’s recent performances, the Liverpool defender might have finally turned a corner after a mixed-bag of a season for the Reds, where some displays simply haven’t been good enough.
Yet McManaman has backed Robertson to return to his best, with the pundit saying when asked if the Scotsman was Liverpool’s no.
“But I think he’s responded very well and I’d still put him number one in-front of Kostas Tsimikas.
He’s an able deputy, don’t get me wrong, but I’d still have Andy Robertson in my side.
He’s better going forward and that’s what Liverpool are good at.”

Robertson’s form has improved in recent weeks with the defender starting to return to his world-class best having finally got his feet under the rug with Arne Slot’s defensive system, one that fullback partner Trent Alexander-Arnold took to immediately.
Yet one of Robetson’s biggest critics this season has been Carragher, with the Liverpool legend eager to see the left-back position improved upon in the summer with the pundit also asking for Kostas Tsimikas to be replaced at some point.
Carragher said: He [Robertson] needs help, doesn’t he?
But Robertson is playing too much football.
He can still do 15-20 games a season, but he needs help in January.”
