Mohamed Salah is on course to enjoy the best season yet of his career, with the Liverpool winger breaking records seemingly on a weekly basis.
This month alone has seen Salah become the first Liverpool player to score 50 European goals, with the winger this weekend overtaking Thierry Henry in the all-time Premier League goalscoring list, with the 32-year-old having a real shot at cracking the top-five at his current pace.
With 19 goals and 13 assists already in the Premier League, there’s a real chance that Salah could break Henry’s long-standing record of hitting 20+ figures for both goalscoring and creating, a feat that only the former Arsenal man holds.
Yet given how many more games there are to play this season, Salah is firmly in the hunt to break yet another Premier League record, and Rio Ferdinand has now given his verdict on if the Liverpool winger can top Henry this campaign.

Speaking to Eurosport, the former Manchester United defender has backed Salah to break Henry’s Premier League goalscoring and assist record, though Ferdinand did warn that the Liverpool man will have to maintain his current best-in-the-world form to reach that feat.
Henry remains the only Premier League play to register 20+ assists in a single season, and if Salah is to beat that record, the Egyptian international will have to be at his best between now and the end of the campaign, where Liverpool could win the title in the process.
Ferdinand said: “The trajectory that Mo Salah is on right now, he surpasses that [Henry’s record], it seems.
You need a bit of luck in terms of staying fit and maintaining form.

“You need your team to keep providing you chances, and you to keep putting them on a plate for other people, but the form that he’s in, the run that he’s on at the moment, and the fact that they’re top of the league and are full of confidence, you can’t bet against him.”
No player is yet to hit 20+ goals or assists since Henry’s iconic 2002/03 season, a feat that has helped fuel the legendary Arsenal attacker’s legacy as arguably the best Premier League player of all time.

Yet when comparing Salah’s stats with Henry’s, it becomes clear that the Liverpool winger might have the best chance out of any player in the last 20 years of beating the former France international to his long-standing Premier League record.
With 16 games left to play, Salah needs just one more goal and seven assists to tie Henry’s record, and knowing the Liverpool winger like we do this season, there’s a real chance that the 32-year-old could go one step beyond what the former Arsenal forward set back in 2002/03.
