Robbie Fowler has delivered his verdict on the Liverpool contract situation at the club.

As the Reds edge closer to what could be their second Premier League title in five years, it’s deeply frustrating that the futures of three pillars of this success

Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s futures all remain unresolved.

With all three contracts expiring in 2025, the ongoing uncertainty creates an unnecessary distraction during what should be a time of singular focus.

Liverpool’s 15-point lead at the Premier League summit is a testament to the world-class quality these players bring.

Salah continues to deliver goals and assists at a remarkable rate, Van Dijk remains the defensive cornerstone, and Alexander-Arnold is only now hitting what people consider a player’s prime years.

Yet instead of basking in their contributions, fans are left anxiously speculating about potential departures.

The club’s data-driven approach to contracts is understandable from a business perspective, but the timing is baffling.

These negotiations should have been concluded well before the business end of a potential title-winning season?

The players themselves have maintained professionalism, but the lingering questions inevitably create uncertainty.

Robbie Fowler shares these sentiments, and while speaking to Beanyman Sports ahead of the ‘North vs South’ show match in the summer admitted that it was a disappointment that we are nearing April still discussing the same topic:

“I think in all honesty, disappointing the fact that we are talking about these players either coming or going, coming up to like a few months left of the contract, so it’s probably not ideal,” he began.

“I want them all, I want them all to stay.  I’m speaking as a supporter but you’ve got to have a little bit of realism there, isn’t it.

So, I think you know, if players do go you’ve got to think, look, no one’s bigger than the football club anyway.”

However, the Liverpool icon did suggest the club would be just fine if some of the trio do depart, referring to the succession between Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot:

“You were probably talking the same situation last year with Jurgen.

And then all of a sudden a new manager comes in and the club is, you know, achieving this great thing again this year.”

“So there’s always a little bit of brightness at the end of that dark tunnel.

As supporters dream of another Premier League trophy, they deserve clarity on whether the architects of this success will remain to defend it
