Roy Keane believes Liverpool winning the Premier League title this season is an achievement that commands greater respect.

The Reds headed into Sunday's game against Fulham 11 points clear of Arsenal and on the brink of winning the Premier League title.

Despite such dominance, Sky presenter Dave Jones had opened Sky's Super Sunday show by saying the Reds are creeping towards their second league title in 35 years, rather than just five years when they last won it.

The following discussion was then dominated by Micah Richards and Gary Neville talking about the trailing pack that 'just haven't stepped up' to fight for the title rather than the good Liverpool have done this season.

And this was followed by a graphic that displayed Premier League title wins at the earliest possible date.

So Jones asked Keane if Liverpool's impending achievement commands greater respect than what is being portrayed.

"Well, obviously they had a difficult spell a few weeks ago going out of Europe and losing the cup final to Newcastle," he replied.

"But they have bounced back well and they had a good win against Everton."

With honesty he continued: "It's well and good sitting here criticising the other teams' points totals saying they've not challenged Liverpool but that's not their problem.

"Liverpool have been consistent and that's the reason you win league titles.

Maybe they deserve a bit more credit.

"Whatever's happened to the other teams - yes, we didn't see Man City would be dropping off so much and would be 20 points behind, but the other teams haven't stepped up to the plate.

"That's down to Liverpool's consistency - they've been brilliant and to win the league title, we talk about stats all the time but when you get that league medal there are no stats on the back of your medal.

"You've won it and it should mean a hell of a lot to you.

Don't take anything away from them the fact other teams haven't been great in terms of chasing them down."
