Roy Keane appeared to forget some of his own history when saying Liverpool would be a “laughing stock” if they don’t win the Premier League this season.
The Reds sealed a monumental victory over Manchester City on Sunday, beating the reigning champions 2-0 away from home to go 11 points clear at the top of the table.
But with just 11 games left to play, Arne Slot’s side losing their grip on the title at this point would be humiliating, at least according to Manchester United legend Keane.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the win over City, the Irishman implored the Reds to maintain their focus despite their comfortable lead, saying: “It’s more exciting for the neutral when it’s a bit tight but when you’re in the dressing room and you’re that much clear, it’s fantastic.
You look at the players getting interviewed afterwards and they are probably lowkey about it but in the dressing room you know what a big result this is."
Keane seemed to forget that he captained a Red Devils squad that once blew a 13-point lead in the title race.
