Ryan Gravenberch’s agent, Jose Fortes Rodriguez, has sparked intrigue this week with comments that appear to link his client to Real Madrid.
The 22-year-old has undergone a remarkable transformation this season, becoming the foundation of Liverpool’s midfield after being converted to a number six role by his compatriot Slot.
Missing out on primary target Martin Zubimendi initially looked like a blessing in disguise as Gravenberch flourished in his new position.
The Dutch international has excelled in his new role as a defensive midfielder and is under contract until 2028, making any transfer unlikely in the near future.
Rodriguez works for ‘Team Raiola’, and agency represents plenty of Gravenberch’s compatriot’s including Justin Kluivert (Bournemouth), Micky van de Ven (Tottenham) or Brian Brobbey (Ajax).
And now speaking to Marca, Jose Rodriguez – who help brokered the Gravenberch’s £34.2m move to Liverpool in 2023 – has spoken quite strangely about his client’s future:
“When Ryan was 16, Barça called us.
We would love for him to play for them, but Liverpool would ask for a lot of money.”
“I know they’ve had their eye on him, but now it’s impossible.”
