It seems that Saudi Arabia can’t keep Mohamed Salah out of their heads amid links with Al-Hilal in recent months.
Salah’s future remains shrouded in uncertainty as the Saudi Pro League giants watch the contract talks with eagerness.
Reports suggest that Al-Hilal are determined to make him their marquee signing ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup this summer, but only if Liverpool are unable to agree a deal with the 32-year-old.
Salah has been in scintillating form this season, contributing 18 goals and 13 assists in just 19 Premier League matches.
However, his cryptic social media posts and public comments hinting at his “last year” at Liverpool have only fueled speculation about his departure.
Al-Hilal, one of four Saudi clubs owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), have identified Salah as their top target.
The reigning Saudi champions view Salah as the ideal poster boy for their ambitions both domestically and internationally, particularly with their participation in the newly expanded FIFA Club World Cup set to begin in June.
And it seems that the Mohamed Salah fever has reached even the upper echelons of Saudi Arabia football managment.
Saudi Sports Chief posts Mohamed Salah in Al-Hilal kit
Turki Alalshikh, a prominent Saudi Arabian figure in sports and entertainment, has posted an image of Mohamed Salah in the Al-Hilal strip.
Known for his role as Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA), Alalshikh has played a pivotal part in reshaping the Kingdom’s sports landscape under the Vision 2030 initiative – and is ‘ is credited with leading significant developments in Saudi Arabia, including contributions to sports and cultural arenas’.

Turki Alalshikh has been instrumental in elevating the Saudi Pro League into one of the most lucrative and star-studded leagues globally
In 2019, Turki Alalshikh purchased UD Almería, a then-second-tier Spanish club, for €20 million (£17.2 million).
His acquisition marked the beginning of an ambitious project to elevate the club’s status in European football.
Under his ownership, Alalshikh invested heavily in the squad, and ironically signed Darwin Núñez before the Uruguayan moved to Benfica.
And as a prominent influencer of the Saudi Pro League, it seems that the Mohamed Salah fever has caught Alalshikh as well, with the advisor posting the edited photo on Facebook:
Of course, this does not mean that Mohamed Salah is now moving to the Saudi Pro League at the end of the season, or that contract talks with Liverpool have broken down.
It is likely Alalshikh just having a bit of a laugh on social media, showing everyone how the Egyptian would look in Al-Hilal’s colors.
However, while Salah remains focused on success on the pitch, this little stunt serves as a poignant reminder that the Saudi Pro League are always watching – and will be keenly observing any developments in the forward’s contract dilemma at Liverpool in the coming weeks and months.
