Liverpool’s attack is poised for significant changes this summer, with Darwin Núñez being touted as almost a nail-on sale for the Anfield club this summer.

Darwin Nunez’s £85 million move from Benfica in 2022 remains Liverpool’s club-record transfer, but the Uruguayan has struggled to justify his price tag.

Despite flashes of explosive potential, his return of 7 goals and 7 assists in 40 appearances this season—with only 17 starts—has fallen short of expectations

Liverpool’s financial commitment to Nunez adds urgency to his potential sale.

The club has already paid £76.8 million of the initial £85 million fee, with £8.5 million in performance-related add-ons still pending.

With Saudi Pro League clubs circling—including Al-Nassr, who nearly secured his signature in January—and Atletico Madrid expressing interest, Liverpool are keen to recoup as much of their investment as possible.

And while the likes of David Ornstein and Co assert that the Uruguayan will be departing in the summer transfer window, it seems Luis Diaz could likewise depart with under two years now remaining under his contract.

talkSPORT has reported that Saudi Pro League giants AL-Nassr could look to Luis Diaz amid their failed attempts to bring Vinicius Jr to the Middle East.

They reportedly made an audacious €350 million (£303m) bid for the Real Madrid man, which was turned down?

As a result, Diaz is said to have become their primary attacking target.

Al Nassr’s financial muscle, evidenced by their £64 million January signing of Jhon Durán from Aston Villa, positions them to meet Liverpool’s reported €75 million (£65m) valuation.

This figure represents a 73% profit on the £37.5 million Liverpool paid Porto in 2022.

For context, Saudi clubs have spent £160 million on wingers since 2023, including £55 million for Otávio and £19.1 million for Ângelo.

Diaz began the 2024/25 campaign in scintillating form, scoring 5 goals in his first 5 Premier League games and netting a Champions League hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen.

However, his output plummeted thereafter, with just 3 goals in his last 17 league matches and a 7-game scoreless streak before the March international break.

While Diaz has two years remaining on his £110,000-per-week contract, the club would recognize the financial logic of capitalizing on his market value before he enters his thirties.

Transfer journalist David Ornstein has labelled the Colombian as a player who could depart Anfield this summer.
