It seems that Saudi representatives can’t go a week without speaking about Mohamed Salah.

Earlier this month, another chief from the Saudi Pro League posted a doctored image of the Egyptian in the Al-Hilal kit.

Then, later in January, another minister of state claimed that Salah was ‘one step away from’ joining Al-Hilal.

The reigning Saudi Pro League champions have emerged as strong contenders for Salah’s signature.

The club is reportedly prepared to offer the 32-year-old a lucrative two-year contract worth £65 million (approximately €77 million) per year.

This interest comes as Al Hilal seeks a high-profile replacement for Neymar, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

A significant development involves FIFA’s approval of an ‘exceptional’ transfer window from June 1-10, specifically before the Club World Cup, which could facilitate Salah’s move to the Saudi champions

Despite the transfer speculation, Salah continues to perform exceptionally for Liverpool, recording the highest goal contributions in Europe this season with 40 in 32 games across all competition.

And ahead of the window slamming shut this month, more talk from Saudi representatives have surfaced.

What did the Saudi sports minister say about Mohamed Salah?

Speaking on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Sports Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal confirmed was asked if Salah was the ‘big trophy’ for the Saudi Pro League:

“Is he the biggest trophy right now.

Because he is the most high-profile Muslim player in the world, he’s arguably one of the best two or three players in the world, he hasn’t signed a new contract yet,” Piers Morgan asked.

“Is he the big prize?”

Al-Faisal responded by affirming that the Egyptian ‘definitely’ ticks all the boxes they are looking for and would ‘love’ to recruit him to their league:

“Well definitely, he ticks all the right boxes for us?

We would love to have him, he’s Egyptian and we have very good relationship – we feel like we are one with the Egyptians as well from our culture and history,” Al-Faisal said.

“So, to have Mo Salah or other players who are good role models would be a pleasure and a privilege to have in the Saudi League.

Al-Faisel however remained coy on whether the Liverpool man is being actively focused by the Saudi League:

“Will it happen or not?

That’s up to the clubs to decide and to see what negotiations go on.”

“At the end of the day, we want the league to be within the top 5 watched and commercially driven leagues so that people around the world aspire to want to play there.”

Earlier this week, reports from Egypt asserted that Salah had rejected the latest contact offer with the reason provided.
