Liverpool supporters have been enjoying plenty of Arne Slot content over the weekend so far.

Slot has been settling in for the Reds for a couple of weeks now, but kicked things up a notch as pre-season got underway on Friday.

Obviously, with so many of the Liverpool squad away playing international football this summer, the group returning to the AXA Training Centre has been small.

Perhaps that will be of benefit to Liverpool’s new head coach, who can ease his way gently into life at the club.

One of those returning to the camp on Friday was young defender Sepp van den Berg.

After he made some public comments about wanting to leave Liverpool, it was an intriguing reunion.

It is undoubtedly a huge summer Van den Berg’s Liverpool career.

Coming back as early as he is, the 22-year-old has a big chance to impress Slot.

With Liverpool reportedly in the market for a new centre-back, Van den Berg has the opportunity to show that they already have the answer at home.

As they continue to remain quiet in the market, we’d suggest the Van den Berg is likely to get his chance at Liverpool very soon indeed.

Another supporting factor for this presumption is that Slot looks to have made a connection with his countryman already.

Being the first players that he comes into contact with at Liverpool, the small group working with him from day one are sure to hold special meaning to Slot anyway.

But as he was spotted explaining during the ‘Inside Training’ video posted on Liverpool’s YouTube channel, the 45-year-old has further reason to feel close to Van den Berg.

“Sepp is from Zwolle and I’m from Zwolle, a city in the Netherlands,” the boss told Conor Bradley and Jarell Quansah.

Just give everything you have.”

Having made some very public comments about wanting to leave Liverpool this summer, Van den Berg did look a little sheepish being filmed coming back to the club on Friday.

The Dutch defender has barely spent any time with the Reds during the last three-and-a-half years, though, so perhaps that was understandable.

If he was feeling nervous, then surely his instant connection with Slot will make Van den Berg feel better about his surroundings.

The youngster’s chances of finally making the grade at Liverpool do definitely depend on what the Reds are planning in the transfer market.

We get the feeling that the two things are inextricably linked.

If Van den Berg can do well over the coming days and weeks, Liverpool will promote him and stay out of the market.

If not, Sepp will be moved on and a new body brought in .

Still, an undeniably promsing start for Van den Berg.
