Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw against Fulham in the Premier League in what turned out to be an entertaining game of football at Anfield.

Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota scored for the Reds as Fulham took the lead twice through Andreas Periera and Rodrigo Muniz.

Liverpool played a large part of the game with ten men as Andy Robertson was sent off for a foul on Harry Wilson at the edge of the penalty area.

And Arne Slot has made an interesting claim on the Scotsman’s character after he received his marching orders.

The game started off on the wrong foot for Robertson, who was fouled by Issa Diop in the first minute of the game.

The Liverpool left-back suffered a boot to his knee and looked visibly uncomfortable as the game went on.

It eventually came back to haunt him as Robertson failed to control a pass, which was latched onto by Wilson.

He then committed a cynical foul on the Welshman that led to his red card as Liverpool played out the rest of the game with ten men.

Slot feels the fact that Robertson suffered an injury so early in the game could have affected him as he praised his character for staying on the pitch and attempting to shake off a painful blow.

“I think Robertson might have been a bit too injured to keep going because normally he’s faster than that,” said Slot to Sky Sports via BBC.

“It says a lot about his character that he wants to keep on going but it results in a red card.

I think it’s just whether it’s offside.

“I was clear it wasn’t going to be changed.

It’s maybe the only thing I didn’t complain about today.

It’s an emotional game and we were a man down, it’s frustrating.

It’s good to see our performance after so many setbacks.”

On the other hand, Virgil van Dijk feels the referee Tony Harrington was ‘nervous’ before brandishing a red card to Robertson, adding that he failed to explain clearly why he made the decision.

Before Robertson’s red card, there was another incident that generated a lot of chatter in the first half.

Ryan Gravenberch attempted to drive forward with the ball but he was stomped in the back by Periera, who received a yellow card for his nasty challenge.

However, Mike Dean feels Pereira should have got a red card as he stepped on Gravenberch’s heel to prevent him from driving with the ball.
