Liverpool have had a predictably quiet January transfer window, with the Reds one of many Premier League teams opting to not do any major business this month.

Although four Liverpool players could leave on loan before tomorrow night’s deadline, all signs seem to point towards the Anfield side ending the market with little changes in the senior squad, with Merseyside giants sat top of the Premier League.

WIth Arne Slot saying himself he’s happy with Liverpool’s squad for the remainder of the season, the conclusion of the transfer window and the end of the rumour mill can’t come any sooner for the Reds with fixtures this month coming thick and fast.

However, it now appears that Liverpool are one of many top sides in Europe who have made an approach to sign one of the most exciting talents on the continent.

Speaking to the Express, agent Zoran Stojadinovic has said 17-year-old midfielder Andrija Maksimovic has offers on the table after a breakout season with Red Star Belgrade, with Liverpool mentioned as one of the teams in the running for the Serbian.

Liverpool had been rumoured with Maksimovic leading into the January transfer window, and it now appears that the Reds’ interest in the UEFA Champions League wonderkid is more intense than first thought.

Stojadinovic said: “It’s no secret, there are some [offers].

Liverpool are among them, Aston Villa, Leipzig and Atletico Madrid, so all the clubs from the top leagues have shown serious interest.

“And then we get to whether the price is €12m or €20m, so they say: ‘Let’s see if it’s €20m by June’.

If the price was €10m and he could go, Maksimovic would have already been sold.”

Liverpool are arguably the most appealing club in the world right now for any player weighing up their options, with the Reds top of the Premier League and finishing first in the UEFA Champions League standings.

Yet when it comes to Maksimovic, Liverpool could struggle to win the race for the attacking midfielder, with Aston Villa having a professional relationship with Red Star Belgrade having signed Kosta Nedeljkovic from the Serbian giants last year.

Moreover, the likes of Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig could provide Maksimovic with more opportunities than the likes of Liverpool, who could be cautious with how fast to promote the midfielder despite his Champions League experience.
