Sheffield United could look to do some shopping on Merseyside in the summer, according to reliable reports.
It is set to be a busy summer transfer window for Liverpool, both in terms of incomings and outgoings.
And while plenty of rightful attention is being cast on the ‘Contract Three’ there is also a Liverpool loan army that will need attention at the end of the season.
Stefan Bajcetic will be among those who need attention.
The 20-year-old midfielder began the campaign at RB Salzburg under Pep Lijnders but struggled for minutes, making just six starts in 19 appearances.
By January, Liverpool terminated the loan, sending him to Las Palmas.
The move proved transformative: deployed as a defensive midfielder and center-back, Bajcetic became a fan favorite, earning comparisons to Sergio Busquets for his composure and distribution.
Jayden Danns’s loan to Sunderland has been disastrous.
The 19-year-old striker, who officially joined in January, has yet to feature after a back injury—a recurrence of a pre-season stress fracture—was detected during his medical.
Despite Sunderland’s playoff push, he will play no part in their aspirations.
But other players have had more luck.
Lewis Koumas, 19, has thrived at Stoke City since signing a new Liverpool contract last summer.
The versatile forward, capable of playing across the attack, has made 26 appearances, earning praise for his work rate in particular.
Owen Beck’s loan to Blackburn Rovers has been a resounding success.
The 22-year-old great-nephew of Ian Rush has started 24 games.
And it seems those in the Championship have taken notice, with Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United chief among them.
Lewis Steele, writing in his weekly Liverpool Confidential, has revealed that the pair is being chased by the South Yorkshire club as they prepare for a return to the topflight next season:
“Lewis Koumas at Stoke and Owen Beck at Blackburn, both Wales internationals, are enjoying good campaigns and Confidential understands the pair both have interest from Championship promotion hopefuls Sheffield United.
He progressed through the youth ranks and signed his first professional contract with the Reds in January 2023 having made his debut under Jurgen Klopp last season.
He will attract a relatively high transfer fee should the club want to go in that direction.
