Liverpool will need to be better than they have been in each of the past two games if they are to get past Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday.
The Reds have snuck to victory over first PSG and then Southampton despite not being at their best in either match.
However, after riding their luck on the way to a pair of wins, Liverpool will have to raise their game at Anfield on Tuesday.
PSG have been overconfident in the build-up to the game, seemingly certain that the same, rather toothless Liverpool on display at Parc des Princes will turn up again at Anfield.
On the evidence of Saturday’s first-half in particular, the French champions do have some reason to believe that will be the case.
But Liverpool were far better in the second-half, putting three past Southampton to win the game.
Luis Diaz was key to the turnaround and captain Virgil van Dijk has called for more of the same from the Colombian.

Diaz has been underwhelming of late for Liverpool.
Diaz no longer looks a threat for large periods of games.

Against PSG he was incredibly poor.
One, blind cross field ball which put the French side in for a chance in the first-half just about summed things up.
On Saturday it had looked like being much of the same from Diaz in the first-half.
However, he came out from the break energised and set up Darwin Nunez’s equaliser with a brilliant piece of wing play.

And speaking via the Liverpool ECHO after the game, Van Dijk praised the No.7 and admitted he was hoping to see more of that kind of thing on Tuesday.
“I think in the second half everyone showed their usual self again and Lucho was very important,” said the Dutchman.
“He obviously did an assist for the first one, the penalty incident he was involved in as well.
It’s pretty obvious that we need everyone at their best and hopefully Tuesday he can show it again.”
Diaz looked like he was going to silence the critics who claim he simply doesn’t contribute enough by way of goals and assists this season.

However, after such a good start the 28-year-old has really tailed off.
As he always does, Diaz has been working exceptionally hard and deserves credit for always being available and willing for Liverpool.
But, ultimately, the Reds do need to start seeing a little more in the final third.
