Liverpool are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie, according to reports from Sky Sports Germany.
The Reds are seriously considering reinforcing their centre-back department in the summer, given the possibility of one or two departures in that position.
Arne Slot’s side currently have just four senior center backs.
As such, there will be a need for additions in that position.
Liverpool see Bournemouth and Spain defender Dean Huijsen as one of the ideal options for the center back position this summer.
However, the 19-year-old is wanted by several clubs, including Real Madrid, who reportedly are in the lead for his signature.
Huijsen is not Liverpool’s only option, though.
As we exclusively revealed, the Reds held talks with the agent of Crystal Palace’s defender Marc Guehi a few weeks ago.
There is serious interest in the England defender, who has been a key player for Palace under Oliver Glasner.
Sky Germany claims that Liverpool are watching another center-back option in the form of Piero Hincapie.
According to the report, Bayer Leverkusen plans to sign Swiss player Albian Hajdari in the summer.
The Bundesliga club sees him as a potential replacement for Hincapie, who is wanted by Liverpool and Real Madrid.
The Ecuadorian has been with Leverkusen since 2021 and has grown into a key player at the club.
He can play as centre-half or left-back.
Liverpool are considering signing a left-back this summer, with Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez seen as the ideal candidate.
The Cherries have slapped a £45 million price tag on Kerkez, but it is yet to be known how much Leverkusen will want for Hincapie, whose contract with the Bundesliga giants runs until 2029, having signed a renewal in December last year.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time Liverpool have been named as one of the clubs interested in Hincapie?
The Reds reportedly sent scouts to watch the defender last year.
