Sky Sports have provided their latest on Trent Alexander-Arnold and Real Madrid.
The Liverpool star appears on the verge of confirming a move to Real Madrid, with multiple reports claiming that the England international has agreed to personal terms with the Spanish giants.
The right-back, whose contract at Anfield expires on June 30, 2025, is poised to end his lifelong association with Liverpool in what would be one of the most significant free transfers in recent football history.
This week, a talkSPORT report claimed that the 26-year-old had already agreed terms with Real Madrid.
It was claimed that the defender is also set to receive a substantial signing bonus described as “equivalent to a reasonable transfer fee”
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has added credibility to these reports, stating simply on social media platform X: “Trent Alexander-Arnold and Real Madrid, story revealed one year ago?
Deal on.”
While David Ornstein of The Athletic indicates that formal paperwork is not completed, he confirms that Real Madrid are working diligently to finalize the acquisition imminently.
We exclusively revealed the major reasons why Trent Alexander-Arnold has not penned new terms.
It can be difficult to keep with such a high-pace saga which has suddenly raced to the fore again this international break.
Now Sky Sports have provided their slant on the matter.
They report that Alexander-Arnold is eager to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
Talks between Real Madrid and Alexander-Arnold are progressing, but no agreement has been finalized yet and he has not signed a contract with Los Blancos contrary to reports.
The England international, who has played over 300 games for Liverpool and is set to make his 350th appearance against Everton on April 2, has turned down an improved contract offer from Liverpool, expressing his desire to leave.
While optimism exists on both sides, significant details remain unresolved, making it not a guarantee whether he will join the LaLiga giants next season.
They add:
“With his current deal at Anfield due to expire this summer, the defender has turned down the opportunity of a lengthy and improved contract to stay in the North West and has made it clear he wants to leave.”
While final confirmation from either club remains pending, the weight of reporting suggests Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid is a matter of when, not if.
