Last month, Barney Ronay said Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, had the look of a “prosperous provincial butcher here to pick up a civic award”.

This month (23 February), he said Slot had “the air of a friendly neighbourhood greengrocer who juggles apples on his forearm”.
