Liverpool fans’ excitement continues to build following Virgil van Dijk’s heroic late header against West Ham on Sunday, with social media now ablaze after the club captain was spotted filming in the city less than 24 hours later.

However, closer inspection reveals that the shoot appears to be for a Nike promotional campaign rather than Liverpool’s media team capturing a contract signing.

If anything, the Dutchman would have been in some form of Liverpool apparel for his contract announcement media – not generic Nike clothing.

The defender was shown a red card while holding the phone during filming, suggesting a commercial concept unrelated to his Liverpool future.

The anticipated contract extension for van Dijk would mark the second major piece of business completed by Liverpool in recent days, following Salah’s new deal announced last Friday?
