Most Liverpool supporters would agree that the Reds are badly in need of a new left-back this summer.
The Reds have been blessed by the continued excellence of Andy Robertson over the past seven-and-a-half years.
However, Robertson has declined this season, with many coming to view the 30-year-old as a weak link within the Liverpool squad.
With Kostas Tsimikas not quite up to the level of replacing Robertson, there is an expectation that this will be addressed by Liverpool in the transfer market.
Various names have been put forward as targets ahead of the window.
Milos Kerkez, for example, has been heavily linked with a move away from Bournemouth.
But as Liverpool consider their options, perhaps they should be looking at what could be a smart, cut-price signing who is outperforming Kerkez in the Premier League.

Arne Slot praised Kerkez after Liverpool’s recent win over Bournemouth, suggesting that the 21-year-old will certainly be in his thinking as a potential new signing.
However, there have been suggestions that the Cherries may be looking for up to £40m to sell Kerkez.
Realistically speaking, that is too much to spend on a left-back.

Liverpool regularly look for cheaper alternatives in the market and we think Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell could be a smart option this time around.
Mitchell is out of contract at Palace this summer and Liverpool could get him for nothing as a result.

And as per Squawka, the 25-year-old is one of only three Premier League defenders to have created 30 or more chances from open play this season, the others being Trent Alexander-Arnold – who tops the list on 34 – and Antonee Robinson.
Having created 30 openings for Palace, Mitchell sits in third, eight chances and five places ahead of Kerkez.
Incidentally, Robertson is sixth, with 24.
Mitchell would not be a flashy signing for Liverpool, but there is further evidence that he could do a job for the Reds.
Alan Shearer described Mitchell as ‘solid‘ last season and with two England caps to his name, the Palace academy graduate has some experience at a higher level, too.

Not 26 until September, Mitchell is coming into his best years as a footballer and could be primed to go up a level or two as well.
Having racked up more than 150 Premier League appearances, the defender is well versed in what to expect from the division and in some ways would be a signing reminiscent of Robertson himself.
As Liverpool target a big summer, left-back is not an area they will be wanting to break the bank in.
Mitchell ticks plenty of boxes and we wouldn’t be moving to rule him out just yet.
