According to reports, Spanish giants Real Madrid wanted Mo Salah before the development of his new contract at Anfield.

It has been revealed that Mohamed Salah would have been suited by Real Madrid if one thing had happened.

The reigning UEFA Champions League champions were interested in Salah on a free transfer alongside his teammate, Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Salah’s new deal with the Merseyside club was orchestrated by sporting director Richard Hughes and includes a £400,000 weekly pay, which is a £50,000 increase from his previous deal with the club.

The Spanish Laliga side would have come for Mohamed Salah at the expiration of his contract but the Egyptian maestro did not even have any thoughts on leaving the Premier League side.

Reports say that Los Blancos would have pursued a deal for the winger if there was any form of encouragement from the player’s side.

However, Salah prioritized his legacy at the Reds and wanted to remain at the club, even rejecting a £500 million package from Saudi Pro League’s Al Hilal.

Real Madrid have been the best at the game of signing up high-profile players off the free transfer market in recent years with the signatures of Kylian Mbappe, David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger.

Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold appears set to be the next big name signing for the Los Blancos on a free when his contract expires in June 2025.

According to DAVEOCKOP on X,

“Real Madrid would have had interest in signing the most sought after Bosman had Salah’s contract elapsed, and they would have been doing due diligence in case it got to that point.”

This transfer-based approach panders more towards huge signing bonuses and fees rather than the payment of transfer fees.

With Salah, they faced an immovable challenge as the Egyptian only had his sights on staying at Anfield.
