Liverpool loanee Stefan Bajcetic has received a huge compliment from a local newspaper in Las Palmas.

Liverpool have a few players out on loan this season.



The Reds sent to these players, hoping that their exposure to first-team action elsewhere would increase their chances of breaking into the first team or getting a good transfer value in the summer.

Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips, who are presently at Morecambe and Derby County, respectively, are expected to move on when the summer window opens.

But the likes of Ben Doak, Kaide Gordon, Jayden Danns, Lewis Koumas, and Owen Beck are highly rated at Anfield and could push for a place in the first team, if not next season, sooner rather than later.

Most of these youngsters are enjoying their respective loan spells outside of Anfield and could command a decent transfer fee if they decide to move on when the window opens.

Another Liverpool loanee who is currently enjoying a spectacular loan spell is Stefan Bajcetic.

The Spanish midfielder initially joined RB Salzburg on loan at the beginning of the season.

But he had a largely unsuccessful loan spell at the Austrian club, who sacked their manager mid-way into the season.

Liverpool terminated the loan spell in January, with Bajcetic moving to Spanish La Liga side Las Palmas for the last five months of the season.

His switch to Las Palmas has been largely successful so far, and after just seven games, he is getting impressive reviews from the locals.

The 20-year-old has been utilised as both a defender and defensive midfielder in his short spell, and he has not disappointed.

According to Sports Mail’s Lewis Steele, “Bajcetic has quickly become a fan favourite for his ‘pure talent’ and ‘exceptional attitude’ as the La Liga club look to avoid relegation.”

“One local newspaper report has compared him to former Spain international Sergio Busquets. Meanwhile, local journalist Manuel Garcia says: ‘He reminds me of Sergio Busquets because of how he drives the ball and how he moves around the field.’”

Steele observed that Bajcetic is showing the defensive grit that defined his impact at Anfield before his injury.

“Few players in La Liga have made more tackles, blocks, interceptions, or aerial wins than him per 90 minutes since he arrived.”

Earlier this season, before heading out on loan, Slot admitted he was hoping Bajcetic would return from his loan spell equipped to play for the first team.

“I hope it will be a big year for him because he’s a very talented player, and I think he could become a very important player for us, but only if he gets playing time now,” Slot said.

“It’s a smart decision (sending him out on loan), at least in our opinion, to let him go somewhere where he will hopefully play a lot of games.

Then, for next season, we’ll have a player.

Let’s see what the future holds, then.”

With Liverpool expected to be busy this summer, Bajcetic could save the club a few bucks if he returns in good shape and Slot identifies him as a player he can rely on to rotate with Ryan Gravenberch next season.
