Liverpool face Newcastle United this weekend in the Carabao Cup final, with Alexander Isak set for one of the biggest fixtures of his career.

The Swedish international has been in sensational form for the Magpies this season, with Isak now wanted by Liverpool as Newcastle look to brace themselves for potential offers surrounding the £120m-rated striker.

With Isak expected to be fit enough for Newcastle to face Liverpool, Sunday’s cup final at Wembley Stadium will be a huge opportunity for the former Real Sociedad star to show the world how good an attacker he is.

And former Liverpool star Stephen Warnock has amplified this verdict on Isak, who could secure his summer move away from Newcastle if he delivers.

Speaking to FootballTransfers, the pundit shared how Isak putting on a good performance in the Carabao Cup final could be what secures the striker a big-money move in the summer, with Liverpool no doubt likely to keep a keen eye on the Newcastle striker.

With Anthony Gordon suspended for Newcastle, the pressure will be on for Isak to perform for Eddie Howe’s side, who will be determined to win their first piece of major silverware in the 21st century having made the Carabao Cup final two years ago.

And Warnock is expecting big things from Isak in Sunday’s final, with the former England international saying: “For Isak, this is his moment to shine.

“If he performs well, bigger clubs may take notice.

On the flip side, if he truly wants to stay at Newcastle, winning this trophy would mean everything.

Either way, he will be eager to showcase his ability on the big stage.”

Arne Slot will have his first chance at winning silverware with Liverpool this season in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final, with the Dutch manager likely to be keen on winning the title after Tuesday’s elimination from the UEFA Champions League.

Yet if the Reds are to best Newcastle, they will have to do so without some key players, with Trent Alexander-Arnold expected to be absent for Liverpool after injuring his ankle this week against PSG.

With Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley also out for Liverpool, Slot could find himself setting out a makeshift defence against Newcastle, a prospect that could excite Isak and give him confidence about delivering against the Reds.
