Liverpool is the clear favorite to win the Premier League title, with Arsenal given a less than nine percent chance of overhauling them this season.
The Reds strengthened their position at the top of the table at the weekend after easing to a 4-1 win over Ipswich at Anfield, thanks to Cody Gakpo’s double and further goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah.
Arne Slot’s side still holds a six-point lead over Arsenal, with the Gunners managing to overcome Myles Lewis-Skelly’s controversial sending-off at Wolves to earn a narrow 1-0 win.
According to bettingexpert.com’s supercomputer BETSiE, Liverpool has a 91.2 percent chance of winning the league, while Arsenal has been given just an 8.1 percent chance.
The supercomputer involved has simulated the league season 100,000 times and projected the remainder of the campaign based on pre-season expectations, and xG earned both for and against during the season.
Based on the simulations, Liverpool is predicted to win the league by nine points from Arsenal, with Manchester City and Chelsea finishing third and fourth respectively.
Liverpool has been given a huge chance of winning the Premier League title
All three of this season’s promoted sides are expected to go straight back down, with Southampton, Ipswich, and Leicester all predicted to finish in the bottom three.
According to the probabilities for league finishes, Liverpool already has its Champions League place for next season sewn up, having been given a 100 % chance of finishing in the top four
In fact, according to the supercomputer, there’s practically no chance of the Reds finishing lower than second, having been given a 99.3 % chance of finishing in the top two.
The results suggest the title race is essentially down to two teams, if not already a forgone conclusion
The only other sides to have been given any chance of winning the title are City (0.3 percent), Chelsea (0.2 percent) and Newcastle (0.1 percent).
Liverpool.com says: Liverpool will, of course, know it is the clear favorite to win the title now, but that doesn’t mean it’s already done and dusted
