Liverpool’s summer transfer plans are beginning to take shape, with a big window in store for the Reds.

Arne Slot’s march to an inevitable Premier League title will play well in the Dutchman’s mission to overhaul his squad, with Liverpool looking to make as many as five signings in the transfer window.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold already close to joining Real Madrid, one area of the squad already needs reinforcements in the right-back position, though Jamie Carragher has suggested a versatile defender could be the ideal replacement for the England star.

And away from the defence, Ally McCoist has made a bold suggestion as to who Liverpool could move for this summer.

Speaking on TalkSport, the pundit made the bold claim that Liverpool should look to sign Bayern Munich superstar Harry Kane as their answer to their striker problems, with the 31-year-old attacker once again in top form this season.

Rumours have suggested that Kane could be open to returning to the Premier League this summer even if the former Tottenham man finally ends his career-long quest to win a major piece of silverware with Bayern.

And for McCoist, Liverpool could be the ideal destination for Kane, who would work well leading the line for the Anfield side and could work wonders alongside the likes of Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo in Slot’s attack.

McCoist said: “If I was Liverpool, I would test the waters with Harry Kane, I think he’d score a phenomenal amount of goals in that team.

He’s not going to go to Arsenal, he’s not going to go to City because of Haaland, so if he was going to come back, I could see him in a Liverpool shirt.”

Kane is without question one of the greatest strikers football has ever seen in the last 25 years, with the England captain setting a new standard for what centre-forwards at the highest level can achieve when leading the line.

And for Liverpool and their mission to sign a new striker, Kane would be a perfect addition, though the odds of Bayern selling their star forward are next to none, with the German giants getting every single penny’s worth of the £87m they spent on the striker in the last two seasons.

Indeed, Kane back in England would be quite the sight to see with the attacker now at the peak of his powers, and Liverpool would also be a perfect club for the striker to join given Slot’s style of play.
