The Telegraph has revealed the kind of figures and money Trent Alexander-Arnold will receive if he makes a Bosman transfer to Real Madrid in the summer.
It is common practice for clubs to give free agent signing on fees and bonuses as a way to sweeten and even close the deal.
By now, many Liverpool fans are no doubt tired of the Trent Alexander-Arnold and Real Madrid saga.
Real Madrid’s pursuit of Alexander-Arnold is part of a broader strategy to strengthen their defensive lineup.
With Dani Carvajal nearing the end of his career and Lucas Vazquez filling in as a makeshift right-back, Los Blancos are keen to bring in a top-class replacement.
Los Blancos made an approach in January with a bid of approximately £20 million on New Year’s Eve.
As January progressed, Real Madrid’s interest did not wane; they reportedly planned a second bid for Alexander-Arnold.
With each passing week and Liverpool’s firm refusal to sell, it became clear that a mid-season transfer was unrealistic – leaving both clubs to reassess their positions.
What did the Telegraph report on Trent Alexander-Arnold?
Mike McGrath of the Telegraph has reported that Real Madrid are stepping up their efforts to secure the Reds vice-captain in the summer.
Furthermore, it is reported that the Spanish giants are willing to spend the money both in signing fee and wages on the 26-year-old:
“In the current market, Galactico signings at Real, according to sources, would expect to land between £8 million to £10 million net a season, which is around the £400,000-a-week range,” McGrath wrote.
According to Capology, Alexander-Arnold earned £ 180,000 per week in the 2023/24 season amounting to £ 9,360,000 annually.
Alexander-Arnold, who hasn’t spoken to English media on his contract since September, said back then:
“I have signed four or five contract extensions and none of those have been played out in public?
