The Telegraph has run through Liverpool’s summer transfer plans, including what Arne Slot wants in midfield.

Much has been said about Liverpool’s summer transfer plans in the last few months.

Several reliable journalists familiar with the Reds’ plans for the coming summer have revealed that it is set to be a busy summer.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein, for example, revealed that six players could leave Liverpool this summer.

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk also confirmed the club’s plans, stating:

“I think they’re planning to make it a big summer, so we all have to trust the board as a Liverpool-connected fan to do the right job.

And hopefully the club will be challenging for titles for the next two seasons as well.”

The likes of Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Harvey Elliott, Luis Diaz, Joe Gomez, and the well-publicised Trent Alexander-Arnold could all leave the club this summer.

Another player who could leave the club this summer is fan favourite Wataru Endo.

The Japan national team captain has seen his game time reduced greatly this season, with Slot favouring Ryan Gravenberch in the midfield base.

The handwriting had always been written on the wall for Endo, with Slot and Liverpool’s pursuit of Martin Zubimendi a clear indication of what they desire in their No.

However, it was thought that Endo’s professionalism and dedication this season could have changed Slot’s mind about Endo.

However, The Telegraph has revealed that Slot still prefers a player with a different profile from Endo, and so the Japan international is likely to move on this summer.

According to The Telegraph report, Slot will be looking to sign ‘more ball players’ in the summer, meaning that Endo could be sold in the summer.

“Slot evidently sees the popular Wataru Endo as a different profile of anchorman, so the manager will seek more ball players to give him the option of rotating more often,” the report said.

“How many he can add will depend on the future of Endo and Harvey Elliott and whether they are happy as substitutes moving forward.”

Meanwhile, Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt have emerged as a potential destination for Endo should he leave Liverpool this summer?

Several other Premier League sides have also indicated interest in signing the Anfield favourite.
