As Liverpool edge closer to a record-equalling 20th league title, the club stands to gain some financial performance bonuses from outgoing kit supplier Nike – while laying financial foundations for a lucrative return to Adidas next season.

Though yet to be formally announced by the club, multiple industry insiders confirm Liverpool have reached an agreement with Adidas to replace Nike as kit manufacturers starting June 2025.

The German sportswear giant, which previously partnered with Liverpool across two spells totaling 17 years between 1985-1996 and 2006-2012, is understood to have tabled a deal surpassing Nike’s current terms through a combination of guaranteed payments and performance-related incentives.

While precise figures remain confidential, it is projected the agreement could eclipse £75 million annually when factoring in base fees, royalty structures tied to global merchandise sales, and bonuses for on-pitch success.

This represents an increase over Nike’s current reported £30 million base payment, though final values hinge on Liverpool maintaining their position among Europe’s elite.

But it seems Nike may have to give some parting gifts to the Anfield club by the time May rolls around.

Nike in line to pay Liverpool performance bonuses

Before transitioning suppliers, Liverpool are positioned to maximize their existing Nike contract during this climactic season.

The five-year deal signed in 2020 includes three critical performance clauses set to activate should Arne Slot’s side maintain their current trajectory:

A £2 million bonus awaits if Liverpool secure the Premier League title, a scenario growing increasingly likely after Sunday’s 2-0 win at Manchester City extended their lead to 11 points.

This is according to James Pearce of the Athletic, who asserts that the payments could not stop there.

European progression offers further financial upside – reaching the Champions League final triggers another £2 million payout while lifting the trophy in Munich on May 31 would release a further £4 million.

Annual Base Fee

These potential add-ons supplement Nike’s existing £30 million annual base fee and 20% royalty rate on net merchandise sales.

However, Virgil van Dijk tempered excitement around the club’s commanding league position following Sunday’s landmark victory

“Nothing is achieved yet – Newcastle on Wednesday demands our full focus,” stated the Dutch defender.
