Liverpool were prudent spenders in the summer transfer window as Arne Slot opted to stick to his guns after replacing Jurgen Klopp at the helm.
Federico Chiesa was the only player who walked through the door at Anfield, although an agreement in principle to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili in 2025 was reached with Valencia.
The Reds have always been attentive to market opportunities and could well react if such players become available in the upcoming transfer windows.
And here are five players who they could potentially sign for free in 2025.

Liverpool have long kept tabs on Jonathan David and could finally snap him up in the upcoming transfer windows.
The Canadian has been in fine form this season and is attracting interest from a host of European giants, so the Reds won’t be alone in their chase for him.
Jamie Carragher feels Liverpool will sell Darwin Nunez in 2025 and if that were to be the case, snapping up David on a free transfer could be a great bit of business from Michael Edwards and Co.
With Andy Robertson’s form deteriorating and Kostas Tsimikas struggling with injuries, Liverpool could well be in the market for a left-back in the upcoming transfer windows.

Alphonso Davies has been linked with a move to Anfield and with his contract set to run out in the coming months, the Reds could lick their lips at the prospect of singing a player of his calibre on a free transfer.

However, his wages could prove to be a bit of a stumbling block, so it remains to be seen if the Canadian emerges as a concrete transfer target.

Liverpool haven’t signed a centre-back since snapping up Ibrahima Konate in 2021 and could well address this position in the upcoming transfer windows.
Jonathan Tah is an experienced campaigner and played a big role in Bayer Leverkusen’s historic double-winning season under Xabi Alonso.
If the German international is available on a free transfer, he could be a low-risk high-reward option for Liverpool to reinforce their rearguard.
With Mohamed Salah facing an uncertain future at Anfield, Leroy Sane has been linked with a move to Liverpool.
The German international is no stranger to the Premier League and was a constant thorn in the flesh of Liverpool whenever he took to the pitch for Manchester City.
If Sane fails to renew his contract with Bayern Munich, it won’t come as a big surprise to see Liverpool queue up for his signature as they only have one left-footed attacker in the squad currently.

This is more of an out-of-the-box shout, but Joshua Kimmich would be a fantastic addition to the Liverpool squad, at least on paper.
He has shown for Bayern Munich and Germany that he can play as a number six and a right-back, which would allow Liverpool to have another high-quality option in both positions.
Kimmich is already 29 but he has missed just 51 games through injury for club and country since 2013, which shows that he’s one of the fittest players around.
