By now, most Liverpool fans are aware that Manchester City are set to complete the signing of Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush.
Liverpool had reportedly been monitoring Marmoush’s situation, with the club considering him as a potential reinforcement for their attacking options/
However, City’s swift action and willingness to meet Frankfurt’s valuation has secured them the deal.
The Liverpool fan reception to Pep Guardiola strengthening in this manner after a poor opening half of the season has been telling.
There is plenty of frustration, especially on social media, over a perceived lack of action from the Reds’ management in the transfer window, with one fan on X seeing their tensions boil over:
While Marmoush was never considered a concrete target, watching Man City get their man after the collapse of the Martin Zubimendi transfer in the summer has only added to frustrations.
But according to reports, the fee that Frankfurt and City settled on would have likely ruled Liverpool out of the race even if they had competed.
How much are Manchester City paying for Omar Marmoush?
Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Pep Guardiola’s side will fork over €80m to their Bundesliga counterparts should all bonuses be achieved by City and the Egyptian.
Taking to X, the Bundesliga insider reported:
“Manchester City will pay €75m fixed for Omar Marmoush plus €5m in potential bonus payments.”
“The final payment terms are set to be finalised between the clubs today.”
“Eintracht Frankfurt boss Markus Krösche negotiated strongly once again, having demanded €80m from the very beginning.
Top manager!”
“Marmoush will not be in the squad for tonight’s game against Dortmund, and a farewell at the stadium is not currently planned.”
And Manchester City are not slowing down in the winter market, with two promising young defenders close to joining the club?
Vitor Reis, an 18-year-old Brazilian center-back from Palmeiras, has reportedly agreed personal terms with City.
The transfer fee for Reis is expected to be around €35 million (£29.5 million).
Meanwhile, City are also in advanced negotiations for Abdukodir Khusanov, a 20-year-old Uzbek defender from RC Lens.
Lens are reportedly seeking over £30 million for Khusanov, with some reports suggesting the fee could be as high as £33.5 million (€40 million).
