It seems Al-Hilal is not giving up on their pursuit of Mohamed Salah in the summer, with the Egyptian seeing his contract expire at the end of the season.
Liverpool’s talismanic forward finds himself at the center of intense transfer speculation as his contract situation at Anfield remains unresolved.
Al-Hilal and their pursuit of Mohamed Salah gained fresh momentum following Neymar’s departure in January, with the Saudi club freeing up €65 million in wages ahead of a likely ambitious summer move for the Liverpool forward.
Beyond the pitch, Salah’s potential move to Saudi Arabia carries significant cultural weight as one of the most prominent Muslim athletes in the world.
Michael Emenalo, sporting director of the Saudi Pro League, often references the Egyptian as an influential Muslim reference for the Middle-East.
The situation has caught the attention of influential figures in Saudi Arabia?
Turki Alalshikh, a powerful figure in Saudi sports, fueled speculation by posting a mocked-up image of Salah in an Al-Hilal shirt on social media.
Al-Hilal manager Jorge Jesus has spoken about his desire for Mohamed Salah, saying to Canal11 back in January:
“I’d like it, but if he wants it… I don’t know,” Jesus said.
“Salah is a great player; he has a way of playing that would fit our team, but I don’t know any more.”
Interestingly, the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup will be subject to a special transfer window from June 1 to 10 prior to the tournament getting underway.
While all signs have always pointed towards the Egyptian remaining, Spanish outlet Sport have now reported that Salah has a “huge offer of up to €50M a year from Al Hilal.”
Mohamed Salah’s current contract with Liverpool, a three-year extension he signed in 2022, nets him a tidy £350,000 per week,
But Al-Hilal offer would dwarf what the 32-year-old is currently on according to the report.
Despite the ongoing speculation surrounding his future, Salah has delivered exceptional performances this season.
He has racked up 27 goals and 17 assists in just 29 Premier League appearances, maintaining his status as one of world football’s elite attackers despite advancing into his thirties.
