Mohamed Salah has once again written his name in Premier League history.
In Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, the Egyptian forward shattered multiple records, proving why he is one of the most dominant players of his generation.
From the very start, Salah was a menace to City’s defense.
His 14th-minute goal was his 25th of the season, extending his lead at the top of the goalscoring chart.
But that was just the beginning.
The numerous records broken by Mohamed Salah in Manchester City game
With his assist for Dominik Szoboszlai’s goal in the 37th minute, Salah added another historic feat to his name – he became the first player in Premier League history to both score and assist in both games against the reigning champions in a single season.
The records did not stop there.
Salah’s goal was his 16th away strike of the season, tying the all-time Premier League record for most away goals in a campaign, a mark previously set by Kevin Phillips (1999-00) and Harry Kane (2022-23).
His influence on Liverpool’s attack has been monumental, as he has now contributed to 40 goals (25 goals, 15 assists) this season.
This makes him the first player in Premier League history to be directly involved in 40+ goals in two different seasons, having previously achieved this in 2017-18 (42 goal involvements).
Salah has also cemented his status as a big-game player.
He now holds the record for the most goals (9) and most assists (6) against teams managed by Pep Guardiola in top-flight league football.
His consistency in crucial matches is unmatched.
He has also now scored and assisted in 11 Premier League games this season, the most by a player in a single season in one of Europe’s big five leagues since Lionel Messi for Barcelona in 2014/15 (11).
His goal against City also extended his incredible Sunday streak.
Salah has now scored in each of his last 11 Premier League appearances on a Sunday, the longest such run by any player on any day in league history.
Salah is also the first player in Europe’s top five leagues to be directly involved in 50 goals across all competitions in 2024/25.
Liverpool’s win at City was crucial in their title chase, but it was also another night where Salah reminded the world of his greatness.
The records keep falling, and at this rate, it won’t be long before he sets even more.
