'The plan is': Jurgen Klopp shares whether he'll be at Anfield to watch if Liverpool win the PL in May

Liverpool have the chance to edge closer to the Premier League title when bottom-club Southampton visit Anfield on Saturday.

With Arsenal in action on Sunday this week, the Reds can put a 16-point gap between themselves and the Gunners with a win.

Given Southampton have won only twice all season, Liverpool are overwhelming favourites to do exactly that.

From there, there will be just nine games separating the Reds from their first ever Premier League trophy lift in front of fans, and the first title win celebrated with a full Anfield since 1990.

Although Arne Slot deserves immense credit for bringing Liverpool to the cusp of glory, it’s true that this team also owes plenty of its success to former manager Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp left the Liverpool squad in brilliant shape to hand over to Slot and with the team very much built in his image, his legacy remains so strong around the club.

So, it would feel only fitting for Jurgen to be present to see the trophy handed over.

Thankfully, it sounds like he will be.

Klopp is yet to return to Liverpool since leaving the club last summer.

He has since taken on a somewhat controversial role with Red Bull.

Jurgen promised he would be back to watch the team from the Kop, but while enjoying a well deserved break and beginning a new job, it’s fair enough that that is yet to transpire.

According to the man himself, though, he is planning to return when ‘it’s decided’ that Liverpool will be crowned champions.

Speaking at an event organised by South African non-profit club Hout Bay United Football Community on Thursday and captured by supporter Michael Morton on X, Klopp was asked whether he will be back for any potential trophy parade.

“Yes, the plan is but not on the bus,” answered the former Liverpool manager.

So, I’ll go there when it’s decided.”

Obviously, Liverpool still need to get the job done on the pitch for this to become a reality.

However, assuming things go to plan, it will be absolutely brilliant to see Klopp at Anfield to enjoy the celebrations as a fan.

It is a almighty shame that the German was not able to celebrate the Premier League win of 2020 with the supporters.

Being there five years later will not make up for that loss, this would not be his title after all, but it would at least allow him to see the people happy up close.

And that’s all he’s ever wanted.

Klopp won’t want to hog the limelight away from Slot and the adulation he deserves, but if Liverpool do win this thing then Arne and the team owe a lot to Jurgen.
