Liverpool’s season took a major blow on Tuesday as they exited the Champions League against PSG.

The Reds do not have long to pick themselves up and go again, with the Carabao Cup final quickly arriving on Sunday afternoon.

In the meantime, the behaviour of Liverpool’s three out of contract stars and their reaction to the Reds loss against PSG has been coming under the microscope.

Trent Alexander-Arnold looked devastated when leaving the pitch through injury, leading to speculation that he may well have played his last game for Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah didn’t quite ‘burst into tears’ as some outlets would have you believe, but the Egyptian certainly looked a little watery-eyed after Desire Doue dispatched the winning kick.

And then there was Virgil van Dijk.

As Rousing The Kop also revealed last week, Van Dijk has been approached by a number of clubs over joining on a free transfer.

Speaking on his YouTube channel late on Wednesday, though, Romano says Liverpool still remain confident of reaching an agreement with the Dutchman.

“The reality is he’s still negotiating with Liverpool,” says the transfer expert after referencing Van Dijk’s post-PSG comments.

“Liverpool internally insist on their plan to keep Virgil van Dijk at the club, they really want to keep Virgil and they remain, let’s says confident.

“At the moment there is nothing agreed but Van Dijk is speaking to the club and Liverpool maintain their position.”

As well as looking into Van Dijk’s situation, Romano gave another update over what’s going on with Alexander-Arnold and Real Madrid.

According to the reporter, nothing has changed in that regard.

Unfortunately, it sounds like the Spanish giants are edging closer to making the Scouser their new right-back.

“Trent Alexander-Arnold has an offer from Real Madrid since a long time ago,” says Romano.

“Trent is option one, two and three but also four and five at Real Madrid for the right-back position.

They will go very strong for him.

“Liverpool will try until the end to extend his contract,” he adds, “But Real Madrid internally remain really convinced and confident.
