Ange Postecoglou admits Liverpool are the yardstick for his Tottenham Hotspur side after being on the receiving end of a thrashing.
The Reds romped to a 6-3 Premier League win in North London on Sunday afternoon to open up a four-point gap at the top of the table with a game in hand.
Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah both scored twice while Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai also netted for Arne Slot’s side.
James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and former Liverpool striker Dominik Solanke scored for the hosts, although the Reds decreased their intensity after going 5-1 ahead shortly after the hour.

And Postecoglou accepts his injury-hit team were well beaten.
“Are Liverpool the yardstick?
Credit to Liverpool, they are a very good side in a great moment, very settled, great form, great belief and this was a reach too far for us today.
“We were lacking a little bit of energy and the ability to really compete with them at the same level.”
Asked how far Tottenham would be off Liverpool’s level had they their best players fit, Postecoglou responded: “I don’t know because we haven’t had that.
But I’m really proud of the way they still tried to play a certain way.”
There have been 23 goals in Tottenham’s last three home games, with the Londoners beating Manchester United 4-3 in the League Cup in midweek – they will face Liverpool in the two-legged semi-final in the New Year – having earlier lost 4-3 to Chelsea in the Premier League.
Postecoglou has come in for criticism for his refusal to curb his team’s attacking approach despite the injuries in defence.
And he bristled when against quizzed on his tactical decisions.

“I think I’ve been really, really patient in the last 18 months sitting up here answering the same questions again and again,” said the Tottenham boss.
