'There's hope': Injured Liverpool player is now set to be back 'sooner rather than later' - journalist

Liverpool fans don’t have long to wait to see their team back in action during an arduous run of fixtures.

The Reds consolidated their position at the top of the Premier League table on Sunday after beating Chelsea 2-1 at Anfield.

That game began a run of 12 fixtures which will really put Liverpool to the test.

Over the next dozen matches the Reds face all of Arsenal, Brighton, Aston Villa, Man City, Newcastle and Everton in the Premier League.

Liverpool are also in Champions League action, of course, where they have the chance to extend their perfect record in this season’s competition by facing RB Leipzig on Wednesday.

In order to navigate this period successfully, Arne Slot would love to be able to count on the fitness of his full Liverpool squad.

That currently is not the case, with Alisson Becker, Harvey Elliott, Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa all side lined.

With Chiesa yet to really get going at Liverpool, an update has been issued over his situation.

Chiesa has had a stop-start beginning to his Liverpool career.

Having been signed late in the transfer window and without a pre-season for Juventus, that was always likely to happen.

Given his patchy fitness record over recent years, it was also possible that Chiesa would struggle with fitness after joining the Reds.

While it is perhaps unfair to make that assumption after just two months as a Liverpool player, it is frustrating that the 26-year-old has only been on the pitch for 78 minutes across three games so far.

Chiesa picked up a fresh injury earlier in October and has not played since September’s Carabao Cup win over West Ham.

The Italian was on the bench for the win over Wolves three days later, on September the 28th, but has not been seen since.

In the meantime, there has been little update on Chiesa’s condition or when he can be expected to return.

But while echoing those sentiments during a conversation with Anfield Index, journalist David Lynch said that the former Juve winger is likely to return ‘sooner rather than later.’

“We haven’t had much on Chiesa either, but there’s hope he’ll be back sooner rather than later,” Lynch reports.

It is obvious that Liverpool are trying to keep the nature of Chiesa’s injury and how long he may be out for under wraps for now.

There are reasons for that, of course, but it can be frustrating for supporters who want to know when they can expect to see players on the pitch again.

Nevertheless, Liverpool fans may get a clearer picture of the situation surrounding Chiesa on Tuesday, when the Reds host their regular open training session for the Champions League fixtures.

Before they head for Leipzig on Tuesday Liverpool will complete a run out in front of the media at the AXA Training Centre.

There, there will be no hiding whether Chiesa is involved or not.
