Daniel Sturridge has warned Liverpool that the Premier League title race is not over after West Ham United beat Arsenal.
The Reds did not see their lead atop the table decrease on Saturday despite not playing because Mikel Arteta's team lost at home to their London rivals after Jarrod Bowen scored the game's only goal just before half-time.
Liverpool's lead, therefore, remains at eight points.
Arne Slot's side can now extend their advantage over the Gunners to 11 points away against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking ahead of the match, Sturridge has highlighted the player's previous experience of being ahead in a title race in light of his familiarity with such a similar situation during his Liverpool career.
"There are players within this squad that have had experiences [in title races]," Sturridge said during Sky Sports' Super Sunday coverage.
"I was in the squad in the 2018/19 [season that was] 10 points clear in December and lost the league by one point.
"I know it is a different season, but there are players who have been and felt being ahead but knowing the job isn't finished until it's done."
Alisson, Andy Robertson, Caoimhin Kelleher, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk were all part of the Premier League-winning squad during the 2019/20 season.
Diogo Jota was then part of the team leading the league at Christmas the following season.
Aside from Federico Chiesa, they and the rest of this squad also experienced topping the table for several weeks last term.

Sturridge continued: "Every single game counts and is a final; they have to make sure they stick to the task, don't get complacent and go, 'Do you know what?
We'll linger out; Arsenal can't keep pace.'
"They've got to make sure they put the nail in the coffin because Arsenal have players who can do damage."
