Thierry Henry has been left in awe of Mohamed Salah, while Jamie Carragher has offered his take on how the Liverpool ace can maintain his edge. Salah put an end to speculation about his future at Anfield by penning a two-year contract extension last week.

The Egyptian forward's previous contract was set to expire this summer, and there had been uncertainty over his continuation with the club. Yet, he has now committed to Liverpool for another two years and marked the occasion with an assist against West Ham United recently.

Salah provided a low cross that Luis Diaz converted to give Arne Slot's team a first-half lead. Despite Andy Robertson's own goal, Liverpool secured all three points thanks to a late header from Virgil van Dijk.

Salah has now surpassed the Premier League record for most goals and assists in a 38-match season, amassing 45 contributions - 27 goals and 18 assists. Carragher praised Salah's dual threat of scoring and creating, but it's Henry who is astounded by the 'ridiculous' statistics of the ex-Chelsea player.

"It'll be interesting if that jump in numbers stays the same over the next two years," said the former Reds defender on Monday Night Football.

"The evolution of Salah, he's always been a goalscorer but he hasn't always gotten these assists. I think when Liverpool go into the market in the summer, they'll be looking for someone with real pace.

"I think we might see more of this from Mo Salah, where he's the guy who is not always making runs in behind people but, where he's getting the ball in the pocket and feeding people in and playing people in.

"Normal wingers put the ball in the box and hopefully one of the attacking players get it. A lot of the time this season, it feels like he's not crossing, he's passing it into the box. When I think of the assists Mo Salah has got this season, they're this type of assist. A pass to the back post and someone coming in."

Echoing Carragher's analysis, Henry added: "When you can do both (score and assist), it's just outstanding. The desire he has had to adapt and be better. You don't have a lot of players who adapt while they are at the top. They do it when it is too late. The numbers are just ridiculous."

Salah shared his enthusiasm about staying with Liverpool, commenting last week: "Of course I'm very excited. We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.

"It's great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it's going to be 10. Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career.

"And to the fans, I would like to say, I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together. Keep supporting us and we'll give it our best, and hopefully in the future we're going to win more trophies."
