Liverpool look set to do a lot of transfer business this summer.
Arne Slot is in need of a centre-back, a left-back, a midfielder and a striker heading into the 2025/26 campaign but the Reds can’t make a move for the majority of these as Liverpool are yet to sort out Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah’s futures, which will affect the amount they can spend.
It is expected that Trent Alexander-Arnold will join Real Madrid ahead of the new season and that 26-year-old is a talent that will certainly need a replacement should the full-back opt to leave Anfield.
This could get expensive for the Premier League leaders, especially with Liverpool showing interest in Alexander Isak, who could cost interested parties over £120m this summer.
As a result, the free agents market could save the Merseyside club some cash, therefore, here are three targets the Reds should consider moving for in the free agency market.
Ola Aina

Nottingham Forest have been one of the stories of the season in the Premier League this season as Nuno Espirito Santo’s team push for Champions League qualification.
A key factor in this has been the solidity of their defence as Forest have kept the joint-most clean sheets in the English top flight alongside Liverpool while conceding the fourth least amount of goals out of all 20 clubs.
Ola Aina has played a big part in this and has been one of the best right-backs in the Premier League this season and at present, is set to become a free agent at the end of the campaign. The defender has featured in all 29 league games for Nottingham Forest, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
At 28, Aina would be a great replacement for Alexander-Arnold as the defender could provide experienced support for Conor Bradley, who would take over the starting role at right-back in Slot’s team.
Jonathan David

Darwin Nunez is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season and the Uruguayan may not be the only striker, as the future of Diogo Jota is also in doubt.
Isak remains Liverpool’s top target for the number nine role in Slot’s squad but if the Merseyside club cannot afford the Swedish star, they will need alternatives.
Joao Pedro has been linked to Liverpool in recent weeks and that style of player would be perfect for the way Slot likes his centre-forward to play.
Liverpool have shown interest in Lille’s Jonathan David in the past and with the forward being a free agent this summer, the Canadian star seems like an obvious player for the Premier League leaders to move for.
Not only is the Ligue 1 star being free appealing, but David is only 25, can play the number nine role in many ways, and has been producing this season again for Lille with 23 goals and 10 assists across 41 matches.

Leroy Sane

Should Salah depart Anfield at the end of the season, Leroy Sane could be a short-term solution for Liverpool.
The winger is out of contract at Bayern Munich at the end of the season and has yet to reach an agreement over a new deal with the Bundesliga leaders.
The German star has been a key player for Vincent Kompany this season, featuring in 35 matches, where he has produced nine goals and four assists.
Sane could be a decent signing for Liverpool this summer as he is free, has experience in the Premier League having played at Man City for four years and overall, is a quality player.
Seeing as the winger is 29, he would only have to be a short-term solution, and his signing would allow Liverpool to focus on other areas this summer before addressing the right-wing role in 2026.
