Liverpool will end the season as Premier League champions, but it’s easy to forget that talk of the quadruple was on the cards.
The Reds at one point looked to be clear favourites to scoop up the Premier League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup, with Luis Enrique naming Liverpool as the best team in Europe ahead of PSG’s UEFA Champions League tie with Arne Slot’s side.
As we know, Liverpool crashed out of all three competitions with PSG’s penalty shoot-out win at Anfield a big blow for the Merseyside giants, with the French giants now in the Champions League semi-finals where they will look to make it three Premier League teams eliminated from three against Arsenal.
Indeed, Liverpool know they weren’t at their best against PSG despite topping the Champions League standings, and here are three signings the Reds could make that could help Slot get over the line in Europe for next season.

Alexander Isak is probably the most obvious entry on this list, with the Newcastle United striker enjoying the best season of his career with the Magpies having scored the winning goal for the Toon against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.
With Liverpool now interested in signing Isak despite his reported £150m asking price, the Swedish international would be a dream addition for the Reds in the attack, especially with Darwin Nunez leaning towards leaving Anfield in the summer.
If Liverpool are to get the job done in the Champions League, a world-class striker is needed, and Isak ticks every box the Reds are looking at when it comes to a potential signing, even if it means breaking the bank for the Newcastle star.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to join Real Madrid this summer, which means a right-back will be needed at Liverpool in the off-season, despite Conor Bradley impressing whenever given the chance under Slot.
With Liverpool likely to target the Champions League next season, an attack-minded option at right-back could go a long way in the Reds securing their seventh European title, and Jeremie Frimpong could be an ideal option for this role.
Frimpong has been rumoured with a move to Liverpool with the Bayer Leverkusen man expected to leave the German side this summer, and with the Reds in the market for a right-back to compete with Bradley, the Dutch international makes a lot of sense for Slot in the transfer window.

One factor behind Liverpool’s early Champions League exit was down to a lack of a player to bring on who brings a certain magic and flare that just doesn’t exist in the current squad, with a real creative spark lacking in the team.
And heading into next season, Xavi Simons could be the player that provides just that for Liverpool, with the RB Leipzig man expected to be sold by the Bundesliga side just six months after signing the former FC Barcelona wonderkid on a permanent deal.
Much like Isak and Frimpong, Simons is wanted by Liverpool, and with the Reds in need of a creative attacker who can provide that missing X-factor, the Dutch international could be a masterstroke of a signing for the Reds if a deal can be reached.
