Top 5 Liverpool Strikers Of All Time

Below is a summary of the full article. Click here for the full version or go back to LFC Live.net

There’s been plenty of strikers at Liverpool that have hit some hugely impressive heights over the years, although some have made more of an impact than others.

The Reds have seemingly found it tough to ever replace Luis Suarez in the centre-forward role since he departed, and it’ll be interesting to see whether they’re active in the summer transfer market.

Mo Salah leads the way for Liverpool in front of goal, with the most Premier League shots this season, and the Egyptian king has proved key as Liverpool edge closer to another Premier League title.

We’re going to take a look at the top-five Liverpool strikers of all time, which was certainly a tough decision to make with some of the notable names that have missed out.

5.

Fowler made an instant impact after signing for Liverpool, as he netted 13 goals in his opening 15 matches for the Merseyside-based giants.

The Toxteth-born forward adjusted to the physical demands of senior football perfectly, and he also netted his fastest ever hat-trick whilst with Liverpool, as he scored three times in the space of just four minutes and 33 seconds against Arsenal.

In total, Fowler scored 183 goals for Liverpool in 369 appearances for the club.

He won numerous trophies, which included the UEFA Cup, FA Cup, Football League Cup, as well as being part of the team that finished as runners-up in the UEFA Champions League campaign in the 2006/07 season.

4.

Dalglish arrived at Liverpool after an impressive spell with Celtic, and he continued his good form in front of goal with the Reds.

The Scotsman went on to score 172 goals in 515 appearances for Liverpool, before calling time on his playing career in 1990.

He’s inside the top-ten for all-time goals scored for Liverpool, and scored the winner for the Reds in the European Cup final, which only further cemented his name into legendary status amongst the club’s supporters.

3.

He first caught the eye whilst with Ajax, which prompted Liverpool to make their move for him.

He certainly lived up to expectations for the Reds as well, as he went on to score 82 goals in 133 appearances

Hunt signed for Liverpool back in 1958, and never looked back, as he popped up with many strong performances whilst with the Reds.

He scored 285 goals in 492 appearances, and also won the 1966 World Cup with England whilst contracted to Liverpool.

Hunt played his part in England’s only ever World Cup win as well, as he scored three goals during that tournament.

Liverpool got the best out of him during his prime years, and Hunt won two First Division titles whilst with the Reds.

He was unsurprisingly inducted into the Hall of Fame for both Liverpool and England for his hugely impressive contributions for both club and country.

1

This man needs no introduction, and is more than deserving of top spot as Liverpool’s greatest ever striker.

The Welshman’s first spell with the club came from 1980-1986, and despite not featuring much in his first season with the club, he certainly made up for lost time from then on.

Rush scored over 25 in each of his six full seasons in that first spell with Liverpool, which included winning four First Division titles in a row, before departing in 1986.

He returned after a two-year spell with Italian giants, Juventus, and picked up where he left off in terms of goals.

Rush left Liverpool for the final time with 346 goals in 660 appearances, which makes him a more than worthy player to take the number one position as Liverpool’s greatest ever striker.
