Tottenham and their 2024/25 campaign has been severely impacted by an unprecedented injury crisis, with manager Ange Postecoglou facing constant selection challenges across all competitions.

The defensive unit has been particularly hard hit, with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven’s simultaneous absences forcing Postecoglou to field makeshift defenses, while Destiny Udogie’s hamstring injury has left the left-back position vulnerable.

The injury crisis extends beyond the defense, with key attacking players also sidelined.

Dominic Solanke is expected to be out until early March with a knee injury, while Brennan Johnson’s thigh problem will keep him out until mid-February.

Timo Werner joined the casualty list with a hamstring injury, further depleting Spurs’ attacking options.

James Maddison is also ruled out of the Carabao Cup clash with a calf strain.

And it now been confirmed that yet another defender from Ange Postecoglou’s side is on the operating table and therefore ruled out of the outing to Anfield.

Tottenham confirms injury news

The North London club have now officially confirmed that Radu Dragusin has suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury to his right knee.

Unfortunately for the Romanian international, it is a season-ending injury and will obviously not feature against Liverpool at Anfield this week.

Spurs communicated in an official statement:

“We can confirm that Radu Dragusin will undergo surgery for an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury to his right knee.”

“The 23-year-old defender suffered the injury during our UEFA Europa League victory against Elfsborg last Thursday.”

“Radu will be assessed by our medical team to determine when he can return to training.”

Meanwhile, Micky van de Ven was not in the matchday squad vs Brentford on Sunday despite completing 45 minutes against Elfsborg on last week.

“We’re just trying to manage his minutes, ” Postecoglou revealed of the Dutchman’s absence.

“It’s a quick turnaround and with speaking with the medical team and Micky himself, we’ll just keep him on ice this weekend, give him another week training and then hopefully he’ll be ready for the end of the week.”

Against Brentford, Spurs lined up with a defensive duo of Archie Gray and Ben Davies – a duo that Liverpool will feel they can get at.
