Trent Alexander-Arnold looks set to leave Liverpool and join Real Madrid(Image: Joe Prior/Visionhaus via Getty Images))
Trent Alexander-Arnold could be poised to leave Liverpool and join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
The right-back's contract with the Reds runs out in the summer.
Madrid's interest Alexander-Arnold has been long established and they even had an enquiry about the possibility of buying him in the January transfer window turned down.

But Liverpool always expected the reigning European champions to take the opportunity to speak to the 26-year-old about signing a pre-contract agreement - as he has been allowed to do since January 1.

Reports in Spain last week week claimed that a deal to take Alexander-Arnold to the Spanish capital was '99 per cent done' while former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson went even further when he said: "The information I have is: Trent Alexander-Arnold is going to Madrid.
“I spent time in Madrid when we covered the Real Madrid v Man City game, and speaking to sources, they’re convinced Trent signed a pre-contract in January.
“It hasn’t been made public knowledge yet, but the word in Madrid is they are 100 per cent sure that he has signed a deal."
That theory is now gathering significant traction with multiple reports today suggesting that an official move is edging closer and that Real Madrid could soon be in a position to inform the Reds they have agreed a deal with Alexander-Arnold.
Liverpool would be powerless to prevent that from happening with the player's contract set to expire in June.
If Alexander-Arnold does indeed swap Merseyside for Madrid, there could well be parts of the Reds' fanbase who are left dismayed.
The England international is a lifelong Liverpool fan who rose through the club's Academy and has gone on to win every major trophy in the English, European and World game at club level during his time at Anfield.
And Alexander-Arnold, who is currently injured, is set to add another medal to his collection before the end of the season given Arne Slot's side are 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League with nine games left to play.
That would represent the perfect goodbye for the Reds' vice-captain but there is no question leaving the club on a free would be a bitter pill to swallow for some supporters.
But Stephen Warnock, another graduate from the club's Academy who went on to make 67 appearances for Liverpool at the start of a successful career, believes Alexander-Arnold deserves a 'great send off' if he does indeed decide to sign for Madrid.
Warnock, now a pundit, wrote on X: "Can’t believe the negativity directed towards Trent Alexander-Arnold and his potential move away from LFC.
I’ve seen comments like “he should be ashamed” and he’s “not loyal to the club” are deluded.

"He’s entitled to make his own choices and challenge himself in a different league and different country.
He’s won everything with LFC, been an incredible servant to the club and should be given a great send off by the fans."
Alexander-Arnold has made 349 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 22 goals and making 86 assists.
Captain Virgil van Dijk and top goalscorer Mohamed Salah are also in the same position.
As has always been the case, Liverpool don't comment publicly on contract negotiations, while when approached for comment by the ECHO, a Real Madrid spokesperson said: “We never comment on players that are not ours.”
