Real Madrid are trying to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool this summer while also attempting to negotiate a contract extension for Vinicius Jr.
The current Fifa the Best winner is approaching the final two years of his deal with the Spanish side.
Madrid are the favourites to sign Alexander-Arnold this summer should the club's vice-captain leave at the end of the season.
However, contract renewal talks between Madrid and Vinicius' representatives, Roc Nation, have reportedly started.

Vinicius, 24, last committed his future to Madrid 18 months ago but has been the subject of reported interest from the Saudi Pro League.
Former teammates Joselu, Karim Benzema and Nacho Fernandez have moved to the Middle East over the last two years, while Saudi Pro League CEO Omar Mugharbel recently told Spanish outlet Marca a deal is just "a matter of time".
ESPN reported earlier this month that Madrid had approached the player's agents to begin contract talks because of the ongoing Saudi interest.
Vinicius, reportedly, would become the La Liga outfit's highest-paid player, ahead of Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham, by extending his stay in the Spanish capital.

He is currently said to earn around £8million net a season, which, according to The Telegraph, is the lower end of what a Galactico signing, such as Alexander-Arnold, would expect to earn, up to as much as £10million.
Therefore, it is conceivable that the Reds right-back could initially be earning more than Vinicius.
But should the Saudi sovereign wealth fund, Public Investment Fund (PIF), convince Vinicius to move as soon as this summer, Alexander-Arnold's wages would effectively replace the Brazilians.
