The full-back is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season and the feeling around the Merseyside club is that the 26-year-old is going to leave for Spain this summer.
With that in mind, it is interesting to read what the full-back said the last time he signed a new Liverpool contract, as his career at Anfield looks to be coming to an end.

Alexander-Arnold has been with Liverpool for the entirety of his career so far and has won everything at the Merseyside club since Jurgen Klopp handed him his debut in 2016.
In 2021, the full-back penned a new long-term deal with the Reds and in the aftermath of signing that contract, the England international stated that no matter what state the Merseyside club is in, it will always be a good option for him.
“I’m honoured to be given the opportunity and to be shown the trust in the club to be given an extension, so it was a no-brainer for me,” Alexander-Arnold told Liverpoolfc.com.

“The state the club is in and where I’m at in my career is always a good option for me.
I’m made up.
“It’s the only club I’ve ever really known, so to be here for this amount of time and extending to be here for a longer amount of time is amazing for me and my family.
“It’s a proud moment for me – it always is – signing a new contract here.
To be given the trust, like I said before, by the club and the staff is an amazing feeling.”
From these words, it is clear how much playing for Liverpool means to Alexander-Arnold and fans of the Merseyside club should remember this, as the full-back has given the Premier League leaders some of the best years of his career.
Alexander-Arnold has gone on to feature 349 times for Liverpool, producing 22 goals and 87 assists, and having likely known of his decision to join Real Madrid for some time, the full-back has been immense for the Reds this season.
Michael Owen believes Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool legacy shouldn’t be tainted, should he complete a move to Spain, as it is natural for any player to be intrigued about what Real Madrid can offer their career.
Liverpool fans will not be happy about Alexander-Arnold’s exit, due to the Reds giving him the platform to launch his career, but that is unfair to hold a player to a club just because he is local and came through the academy.
