Virgil van Dijk's conversation with Paris Saint-Germain chiefs was so that the Dutchman could offer an apology - NOT to discuss a possible transfer.
The Liverpool captain was spotted in conversation with the club's sporting director Luis Campos and chairman Nasser Al Khelaifi, following the Reds' Champions League exit to the French side.
Van Dijk is currently set to see his contract at Anfield expire in the summer.
And the possibility of a move to the Saudi Pro League appears to have been rejected.

Speaking ahead of Netherlands' Nations League quarter-final clash with Spain, he said: "Whether he signs with Liverpool or another big club, that’s all good for me.
We’ll see what happens, and what I understand from Virgil is that he is still looking for the level he is at now."
Van Dijk offered little in the way of tangible hope for Liverpool fans keen to see him extend his deal.
The centre-half has reflected there is little reason to panic over his future but appeared to accept that there is a possibility his contract expires.
