Liverpool have done a lot of things right in recent years.
From smart signings to developing homegrown talent, the club’s structure has earned praise.
But contract talks.
That’s still a tricky area.
Fans don’t always see it coming.
One minute a player is progressing well, the next, there’s silence – and then news breaks that they’ve rejected a deal.
These issues often happen quietly.
But when it involves players seen as part of the club’s future, it hits differently.
These aren’t players looking to move on.
They’re committed, they’re contributing, and they’ve come through the system.
Yet, somehow, the offers don’t reflect their value?
That’s when things get messy.
And right now, as per emerging reports, that’s exactly what’s happening with Curtis Jones and Conor Bradley.
According to Anfield Index’s Dave Davis, both players have turned down Liverpool’s latest contract offers.
He revealed, “The info I have got over the last few days surprised me about Jones’ situation.”
That alone shows the situation isn’t routine.
Jones, who has two years left on his deal, rejected Liverpool’s offer.
For a player who has come through the academy and is now an England international, if the reports are true, that’s a big call.
“Curtis Jones has turned down Liverpool’s latest contract offer,” Davis said.
“He has just two years left on his contract and he will be the ‘Scouser in the team’ once Trent Alexander-Arnold does leave.”
Jones has reason to feel undervalued.
“So again, he is going to be looking at their deals and thinks he is worth that value,” Davis added, referring to teammates on higher wages.
He expects Jones to stay but added, “FSG aren’t going to get away with this cheaply.”
Bradley’s situation is similar.
With Trent possibly on the way out, Bradley is set to become a key player.
But Liverpool’s first offer didn’t go down well.
“The first offer Liverpool made to Conor Bradley was literally laughed at because it was that small,” Davis said.
“All of the chips are on Bradley’s side of the table and he will want Liverpool to prove that they want him.”
Both players want to stay.
But the club must show it means business – especially when the future is already in the room.
