Unbelievable stat from Wataru Endo sets him apart from any other midfielder in the Premier League

Wataru Endo has become something of a forgotten figure at Liverpool this season under Arne Slot.

The Japanese international has been forced into a bit-part role with the Dutch manager with the 32-year-old midfielder not making a single Premier League start all season, with Endo only playing 143 minutes of top-flight action.

With Eintracht Frankfurt making a move to sign Endo, there’s a real chance that this year could be the former VfB Stuttgart star’s last in Liverpool colours, with a return to the Bundesliga on the cards for the midfielder.

Yet should Endo leave Liverpool this summer, the Japan star will depart Anfield with one of the most unbelievable stats from the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Endo joined Liverpool with a reputation as a defensive midfielder who enjoyed getting stuck in on a tackle, and despite just over 100 minutes of Premier League football this season, the former Bundesliga dynamo is living up to the hype.

As per the table above, no midfielder has committed more fouls per 90 than Endo, with the Liverpool midfielder making an astonishing 4.6 fouls more than second-place Will Hughes, who has been a regular for Crystal Palace this season.

What is even more incredible about Endo’s stat is that the Liverpool man is yet to pick up a booking despite his chart-topping fouls committed numbers, though this is mainly down to how much football the midfielder has played in the Premier League.

Indeed, Endo might not have cracked into Slot’s Liverpool team this season, but the impact the midfielder has on the pitch is undeniable, and stats like this will make the 32-year-old an appealing option for some clubs this summer.

Having not started a single Premier League game all season, Endo’s time at Liverpool look as good as up, with the midfielder on course to leave Merseyside after just two years with a return to Germany likely on the cards.

But when it comes to actually selling the Japanese international, Liverpool now have some leverage with Endo’s statistical anomaly, with the midfielder showing in his brief appearances with the Reds to be a battle-ready player who is eager to get into the mix.

Whether or not Liverpool break even on selling Endo is another question entirely, and the Reds will hope to get a good fee for the Anfield no.
