Liverpool are set to win the Premier League title this season, with Arsenal once again missing out on the biggest prize in English football.
Arne Slot is on course to end his debut year in England as a Premier League champion, with Liverpool losing just one game in their 29 league matches so far this season as the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City have both fallen off after strong performances in recent years.
Despite such a rewarding end to things on the pitch, Liverpool are braced for a big summer transfer window that will see sweeping changes throughout the entire squad, with Trent Alexander-Arnold already close to joining Real Madrid.
And it now appears that Arsenal have won the race to sign a target Liverpool have had on their radar for quite some time.

Speaking on Sky Sports Transfer Talk Podcast, reporter Dharmesh Sheth revealed that Martin Zubimendi is all-but set to join Arsenal this summer, with Liverpool to miss out on the Real Sociedad midfielder one year after almost landing the £50m-rated star.
Zubimendi was Liverpool’s main target last summer as the Reds came close to landing the Spanish international before the transfer collapsed at the last minute as the La Liga star opted to remain with his boyhood club.

And one year on, Liverpool now look set to miss out on Zubimend for good, with Sheth saying about Arsenal’s interest in the midfielder: “I’d say that the Zubimendi one is almost definitely going to happen to Arsenal.
“I just wonder when you look back now to the summer transfer window, Liverpool were all set to sign Martin Zubimendi, and then there was a late change of heart.
It’s not been confirmed to anyone, but seeing now, a year later, he’s very, very likely to join Arsenal.”
Zubimendi joining Arsenal over Liverpool is a big blow for the Reds, who only a year ago looked like a clear favourite to land the Basque midfielder, yet Sheth believes that the Gunners could have played a hand in the Sociedad star snubbing a move to Anfield.
Sheth added: “Was there a late intervention by Arsenal in the summer?
You’d have to ask that question because he looked all set to go to Liverpool, it looked like it was a done deal, the deal was agreed, it was he who changed his mind in the last minute.
“You just wonder whether Arsenal had come in and said: ‘Look, we can’t bring you in now, we desperately want you.’ Mikel Arteta knows him really well.
