Liverpool had a good day on Saturday as Arsenal dropped further points in their bid to catch them in the Premier League title race.

The Gunners had a chance to cut the gap at the top to nine points with a lunchtime visit to Goodison Park, but could only draw 1-1 with Everton.

As a result, Liverpool now need just 11 points to secure the Premier League title.

With seven games in which to do it, there can be little doubt that the Reds are going to be champions.

Having already been given a boost by their Merseyside rivals, eyes could turn to the rest of the day’s action across England and the rest of Europe.

Without a Liverpool game to take in, that meant keeping a watch on how the Reds raft of loan players got on throughout the day.

And with goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili in action for Valencia against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, La Liga was an obvious port of call.

For those tuning in in time, they were treated to a Mamardashvili special.

Valencia have been having a poor season in La Liga and find themselves mired in relegation trouble.

However, they have been better under Carlos Corberan and having gone unbeaten throughout the past four matches, headed to Madrid with some level of confidence.

That looked set to get a knock in the early stages, with Real awarded a penalty after just 13 minutes.

Up stepped Ballon d’Or runner-up Vinicius Junior, but the Brazilian saw his spot-kick thwarted by Liverpool’s on-loan goalie.

In truth it was a poor penalty from Vinicius, who did not even come close to finding the corner.

Mamardashvili guessed the right way and despite almost diving past the ball, made decisive contact with his left knee.

All in all, it has been a difficult season for Mamardashvili.

However, young though he still is, it should all go down as good experience ahead of his move this summer.

Valencia look in decent shape going into the final stretch of the season and if they can stay up, the Georgian will be given a boosts before his arrival at Anfield.

From there, it remains to be seen what plan Arne Slot has in store for his goalkeeping department.

Liverpool are watching Mamardashvili closely during his loan spell, though, and such high profile turns as this one are bound to impress those keeping tabs from his parent club.

Well done Mama!
