Liverpool fans are rejoicing on Thursday after the news that Virgil van Dijk has extended his contract with the club.
Reds supporters have had to sit through a nervous wait to see whether their captain would be staying beyond this season.
But having seen Mohamed Salah sign on for two more years last week, Van Dijk has now followed suit.
There have even been suggestions Virgil is already looking to stay beyond 2027, but for now, two years will do.
As with Salah, the Liverpool media team handled things brilliantly for the captain’s extension, sitting him in a Reds ‘art gallery’ full of iconic images throughout his time at Anfield.
But perhaps the best bit of footage was captured by photographer Steven Halliwell, who put together a spine-tingly good video of Van Dijk stood atop the Liver Building at sunrise.

Van Dijk’s extension was always going to bring some excellent content.
There were some brilliant images from Salah’s signing last week and the captain deserved similar treatment.
Having been a part of so many legendary moments since joining in 2018, there was plenty of footage to use in any videos.

And Halliwell really went the extra mile, splicing together memorable clips from the last seven-and-a-half years over a voice track of Van Dijk pledging his future to Liverpool.

“But this chapter isn’t over.
Together.”
The last line of of Virgil’s speech is delivered with the sun peaking out from behind the Liver Building, as the captain stands smiling in the foreground.
“It was always Liverpool.”
Chills!
This is a monumentally good production from Halliwell and deserves the acclaim it is likely to receive from the Liverpool fanbase.
To see Van Dijk alongside one of the city’s most iconic landmarks delivering such good news will be an instant and long lasting hit.
And what it also does is highlight just how good Van Dijk’s time at Liverpool has been so far.
It is a sight fans have waited decades to see while sitting in their seats at Anfield.
Hopefully it’ll provide some good footage for the next extension in 2027.
